The G-League is testing a new rule where End-of-Period "heaves" will not count towards a player's missed field goal attempts. So if a player shoots the ball inside the green area and misses the field goal attempt will not count on the players shot attempt chart.

The reasoning behind this rule is that many players do not attempt these last second shots so that it does not affect their shooting percentage. The NBA and the G-League hope that this will encourage more end of quarter shots. If a player makes a shot from the green zone it will count as a shot attempt.

If this is successful in the G-League the NBA hopes to impliment it in the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer Leagues in 2025, and possibly in the NBA itself as early has the 2025-26 season.
