2015 NBA All-Star Game Recap
The 64th NBA All-Star Game took place on February 15, 2015, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Western Conference defeated the Eastern Conference 163-158 before 17,198 spectators. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook earned his first NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award after scoring 41 points off the bench.
Westbrook delivered one of the most explosive scoring performances in All-Star history. He made 16 of 28 field goal attempts, including five three-pointers, and converted all four of his free throws. He also recorded five rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes and 33 seconds.
Westbrook scored 27 points in the first half, setting an NBA All-Star Game record for points in a half at the time. His 41 points were one shy of Wilt Chamberlain's then-standing single-game All-Star record of 42, established in 1962.
The Western Conference raced to a 47-36 lead after the first quarter, with Westbrook providing instant offense off the bench. The East responded in the second quarter, outscoring the West 46-36 to cut the halftime deficit to 83-82.
The game remained closely contested in the second half. The Western Conference led 122-122 after three quarters, with both teams producing a steady stream of three-pointers, dunks and transition baskets.
With the score tied at 148 late in the fourth quarter, the Western Conference pulled ahead behind timely scoring from Westbrook and Houston Rockets guard James Harden. The West outscored the East 41-36 in the final period to secure the five-point victory.
Harden was outstanding for the Western Conference, scoring 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting, including seven three-pointers. He also recorded eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Harden's seven three-pointers were the most by any Western Conference player in the game.
Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 18 points and made all four of his three-point attempts. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry added 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while teammate Klay Thompson contributed seven points and six assists.
Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul directed the Western Conference offense with 15 assists and 12 points. Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Portland guard Damian Lillard scored 11 points.
For the Eastern Conference, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James led the way with 30 points, seven assists and five rebounds. James made 11 of his 21 field goal attempts and connected on four three-pointers.

His brother, Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, started for the Western Conference and finished with six points and 10 rebounds. The Gasol brothers became the first brothers to start against one another in an NBA All-Star Game.
The Eastern Conference featured four Atlanta Hawks players, reflecting the team's outstanding first half of the 2014-15 season. Atlanta head coach Mike Budenholzer also coached the Eastern Conference, while Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr led the West.
Injuries affected the Western Conference roster. Kobe Bryant, Anthony Davis and Blake Griffin were all selected but unable to play. DeMarcus Cousins, Dirk Nowitzki and Damian Lillard were named as replacements, while James Harden, LaMarcus Aldridge and Klay Thompson moved into starting roles.
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade also missed the game because of a right hamstring strain. Atlanta Hawks guard Kyle Korver was selected to replace him on the Eastern Conference roster.
