The American Basketball Association was known for its fast pace, three-point shot and high-scoring stars.
This page lists the highest individual scoring performances in ABA regular-season history from the league's
first season in 1967-68 through its final season in 1975-76.
The ABA single-game scoring record belongs to Larry Miller of the Carolina Cougars, who scored
67 points against the Memphis Pros on March 18, 1972. Miller broke the previous league record
of 63 points set by Utah Stars center Zelmo Beaty less than a month earlier.

ABA Single-Game Scoring Record Progression
Several players raised the ABA's individual scoring record during the league's nine-season history.
Spencer Haywood scored 59 points for the Denver Rockets against the Los Angeles Stars on April 15, 1970.
Stew Johnson surpassed that mark with 62 points for the Pittsburgh Condors against The Floridians on
March 6, 1971.
Zelmo Beaty raised the record again when he scored 63 points for the Utah Stars against Pittsburgh on
February 21, 1972. Less than a month later, Larry Miller scored 67 points for the Carolina Cougars against
the Memphis Pros. Miller's performance remained the ABA record through the league's final season in 1975-76.
Notable ABA Scoring Performances
Larry Miller's 67-point performance was especially unusual because he did not make a three-point field goal.
Miller scored his 67 points on 25 field goals and 17 free throws as Carolina defeated Memphis 139-125.
Julius Erving's 63-point game came under very different circumstances. On February 14, 1975, Erving played
66 minutes in a four-overtime game between the New York Nets and San Diego Conquistadors. Erving finished
with 63 points and 23 rebounds, but San Diego won the marathon game 176-166.
George Gervin also produced one of the ABA's memorable scoring nights on February 5, 1975. Gervin scored
51 points for the San Antonio Spurs against the Memphis Sounds despite going scoreless in the first quarter.
