The Mountain West began competition in the 1999-2000 season. The table

Mountain West Basketball Notes
San Diego State has won the most Mountain West men's
tournament championships with seven.
Utah State won both the 2025-26 regular-season title
and postseason tournament championship. The Aggies defeated San Diego
State 73-62 in the 2026 championship game.
New Mexico won three consecutive men's tournament
titles from 2012 through 2014.
UNLV won three of the first nine Mountain West men's
tournaments and hosted most of the tournament's history at the
Thomas & Mack Center.
On the women's side, Boise State and
New Mexico are tied for the most tournament
championships with five each.
Colorado State won the 2026 women's tournament,
defeating Air Force 56-42 in the championship game.
