The 2018 NBA Draft produced one of the most notable groups of players
of its era. Deandre Ayton was selected first overall by Phoenix,
followed by Marvin Bagley III at No. 2. The draft also included
Luka Dončić, Jaren Jackson Jr., Trae Young, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander,
Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson.

Major 2018 NBA Draft-Night Trades
Luka Dončić / Trae Young:
Atlanta selected Luka Dončić with the third overall pick and traded
his draft rights to Dallas. The Mavericks selected Trae Young fifth
for Atlanta. The Hawks also received a protected 2019 first-round pick.
Mikal Bridges / Zhaire Smith:
Philadelphia selected Mikal Bridges at No. 10 before trading his
rights to Phoenix. The 76ers received Zhaire Smith, selected 16th,
and a future first-round pick.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander / Miles Bridges:
Charlotte selected Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at No. 11 and traded his
rights to the LA Clippers. The Hornets received the rights to Miles
Bridges, selected No. 12, and two future second-round picks.
Devonte' Graham:
Atlanta selected Graham with the 34th pick before trading his draft
rights to Charlotte for future second-round picks.
Gary Trent Jr.:
Sacramento selected Trent at No. 37 before trading his rights to
Portland for two future second-round picks and cash considerations.
Khyri Thomas:
Philadelphia selected Thomas at No. 38 before Detroit acquired his
draft rights for two future second-round picks.
Jarred Vanderbilt:
Orlando selected Vanderbilt at No. 41 before Denver acquired his
draft rights in exchange for the rights to Justin Jackson and a
future second-round pick.
Shake Milton / Ray Spalding / Kostas Antetokounmpo:
Dallas acquired the rights to Ray Spalding and Kostas Antetokounmpo
from Philadelphia, while the 76ers acquired the rights to Shake
Milton.
2018 NBA Draft Notes
No. 1: Deandre Ayton became the first player in
Arizona Wildcats history to be selected first overall in the NBA Draft.
International star: Luka Dončić entered the NBA
after starring for Real Madrid and winning the 2018 EuroLeague MVP
award.
Villanova: Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincenzo, Omari
Spellman and Jalen Brunson were all selected after helping Villanova
win the 2018 NCAA championship.
Second-round value: The second round included several
players who went on to establish substantial NBA careers, most notably
Jalen Brunson, Mitchell Robinson, Devonte' Graham, Gary Trent Jr.,
Bruce Brown and Jarred Vanderbilt.
