The 2011 NBA Draft developed into one of the strongest drafts of its
era. Kyrie Irving was selected first overall by Cleveland, while the
class also produced Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler,
Kemba Walker, Nikola Vučević, Tobias Harris, Isaiah Thomas and
several other longtime NBA players.
Several of the draft's biggest stars were selected outside the top
10. Klay Thompson went 11th to Golden State, Kawhi Leonard was
selected 15th, Jimmy Butler lasted until the final pick of the first
round, and Isaiah Thomas was the 60th and final selection.
Teams listed below are the teams credited with making each original
draft selection. Several picks were traded on draft night.

2011 NBA Draft Notes
Kyrie Irving: Cleveland selected Irving first overall
after he played just 11 games during his freshman season at Duke.
The Cavaliers also owned the fourth selection and used it on Texas
forward Tristan Thompson.
Kawhi Leonard: Leonard was selected 15th overall by
Indiana before his draft rights were traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
He developed into one of the most accomplished players from the class,
winning multiple NBA championships and NBA Finals MVP awards.
Golden State connection: The Warriors selected Klay
Thompson 11th overall. Thompson became a major part of Golden State's
championship core and one of the most prolific three-point shooters
of his generation.
Late first-round value: Chicago selected Jimmy Butler
with the 30th and final pick of the first round. Butler eventually
became a multiple-time NBA All-Star and one of the most productive
players from the entire draft class.
Mr. Irrelevant: Isaiah Thomas was the final player
selected in the draft, going 60th overall to Sacramento. Despite his
draft position, Thomas became an NBA All-Star and developed into one
of the most successful final picks in NBA Draft history.
International class: The draft included a substantial
international group led by Jonas Valančiūnas, Bismack Biyombo,
Donatas Motiejūnas, Nikola Mirotić, Bojan Bogdanović, Dāvis Bertāns
and Ádám Hanga.
