2010 NBA Draft Notes
John Wall: Washington selected Wall first overall
after his freshman season at Kentucky. The point guard became the
centerpiece of the Wizards and developed into a five-time NBA
All-Star during his career in Washington.
Paul George: Indiana selected George 10th overall
out of Fresno State. He developed into one of the premier two-way
wings of his generation and became one of the most accomplished
players from the 2010 draft class.
DeMarcus Cousins: Sacramento selected Cousins fifth
overall after his freshman season at Kentucky. Cousins developed into
one of the NBA's most productive centers and became a multiple-time
NBA All-Star.
Gordon Hayward: Utah used the ninth overall selection
on Hayward following his run to the 2010 NCAA championship game with
Butler. He developed into a longtime NBA starter and later earned an
All-Star selection.
Second-round value: The second round included Hassan
Whiteside at No. 33 and Lance Stephenson at No. 40. Both became
productive NBA players despite being selected outside the first round.
Indiana selected Stephenson after already taking Paul George with the
10th pick.
Kentucky: Kentucky had five players selected in the
first round: John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, Eric
Bledsoe and Daniel Orton. Wall and Cousins were both selected among
the first five picks.
