Spurs are the best team in the NBA

Who is the best team after about 30 games? Is it the Phoenix Suns with the NBA’s best record, or the serging Seattle Sonics, or could it be the Miami Heat? Its actually none of the above. It’s a team who’s winning usually goes unnoticed, the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs are 25 and 7, and though not as good as Phoenix’s 26 and 4 record, or Seattle’s 23 and 6 mark. The Spurs Beat the Suns up when they played. The Spurs have lost to Seattle twice this season. But both where fairly close games. And in a seven game series it’s a safe bet to take the Spurs over both of those teams.

The Spurs have gone though a transition since David Robinson retired a year and a half ago. They lost key player, and added some raw talent and veteran leadership to their team. That coupled with NBA Champions Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are why the Spurs are the best team in the NBA. They have a coach who can get the players to listen to him, and they have a designated leader in Duncan.

Their Experience also gives them an advantage over the rest of the NBA. Tim Duncan is a two time NBA Champion, as is Malik Rose. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Bruce Bowen each have won one NBA title. Then there is new comer to the mix Robert Horry- who has won five NBA titles. Two with the Houston Rockets, and three with the Los Angeles Lakers. That’s a total of 12 NBA championship rings. No team in the NBA even comes close.

The Spurs may not end up with the best record in the NBA, but they will win the big games down the stretch, and into the playoffs. And come April, May and June the SBC center will not be a place teams look forward to visiting.
