The NBA retired Bill Russell's No. 6 for all its member teams on August 11, 2022
Wendell Ladner's #4 was unofficially retired following his tragic death in 1975. The number was not used from 1975 until 1993, when Rick Mahorn wore it again. After Mahorn it was not worn until 2017, but since 2017 it has been in the regular rotation of numbers.
