This franchise is not the same franchise as the Waterloo Hawks which played in the NBL and NBA. There are a lot of similarities between the two, and Andrew Pinky George did take the name from this team when he founded the Hawks of the NBL, but this Hawks team ceased operations and was owned by Maurice White.
