Six 3rd year players who could make the NBA all-star team in 2025

Every new NBA season we see a handful of players whose game completely changes and they take the next step to being better players. Not every one of those who make the jump become star players, most become solid contributors. It is usually by a players third season in the NBA that you can tell if the player will be an NBA caliber player or not.

The 2022 NBA draft was a solid draft which has already produced one NBA all-star in Paolo Banchero, but it is due to produce more. So here are 6 players from the 2022 NBA draft who could make their NBA all-star debut in 2025.

Chet Holmgren

Holmgren up until hours before the draft was thought to be the #1 before the Magic abruptly changed course and selected Banchero. The move worked out well for the Magic and the Thunder who got Holmgren at #2 had to wait a year to see their prize pay off as Holmgren got injured in summer camp.

But the Thunder's wait has paid off. Holmgren has become a versatile big on the West's best team. He will take the next step this season and help the Thunder to the best record again. His frame is a concern but should he stay healthy he will have another great year for the Thunder

Keegan Murray

Two picks after Holmgren the Sacramento Kings surprising selected Keegan Murray. Most had thought they would go with Jaden Ivey, but the decision to pick Murray has paid dividends for the Kings.

In his rookie year Murray set the NBA record for 3-pointers made by a rookie and was a key part to the Kings ending a 16 year playoff drought.

The Kings will be in contention in the west again and Murray will be part of a trio that includes Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox, which should get the Kings back to the playoffs.

Jalen Williams

The Thunder did it again at 12 with Santa Clara product Jalen Williams. Williams should have been an all-star last year, as he averaged just under 20-points a game, but this year the Thunder look for him to take another step and be their #2 guy next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Per Lineups.com Williams figures to be in a line-up with Holmgren, SGA, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Alex Caruso. A line-up the Thunder hope can lead them to an NBA title.

Shaedon Sharpe

Sharpe plays on a team that could be the worst in the NBA in 2024-25, but he has been a really good player for the Blazers. He missed a lot of time last year but figures to be healthy this year.

The Blazers do not have a lot of offensive firepower, so that duty will full to Sharpe who has the skillset to accomplish the task.

It is rare for a player to make the NBA all-star game on a really bad team, but given the circumstances Sharpe could do it.

Tari Eason

Many would think that the Rockets top pick, Jabari Smith Jr, would be the choise here. But Eason has played very good for the Rockets when he has been healthy - which was something he was not last season.

The Rockets also figure to have Alperen Sengun back at center, which will cut into Smith's minutes, but Eason's ability to spread the floor and play next to Sengun will be beneficial to both him and the Rockets. Expect Eason to be the Rockets starting power-forward next to Sengun, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and Fred VanVleet - on a Rockets team that will be very good.

Walker Kessler

Kessler looked like the steal of the draft in 2022. The Big-man looked like he was going to take over for Rudy Gobert in the Utah lineup, only to have a less than impressive 2nd season. To be fair to Kessler he got injured early in the season, and had just come back from a disappointing Team USA stint.

Kessler will not be a scorer, and the Jazz will not be good, but he is a good rebounder and fantastic defender. It will be a long shot for him to make the All-star game, but given the right set of circumstances he could very well find himself there in 2025.
