NBA Orlando Playoffs - Surprise Teams

Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, L.A. Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors have secured their position in the NBA Playoffs Round of 16. However, some organizations have about a week before they must either pack their bags for the offseason or extend their Orlando stay.

And, still, others have secured their playoff positions but offer fantastic odds to win rings.

Surprise teams have lifted their heads from the sand in both the Western Conference and Eastern Conference. Those surprise teams aren't playing like borderline playoff squads.

They're playing as if they could win the 2020 NBA Championship.

Check out a list of what makes the following four teams dangerous. We added their current Vegas odds to win.

NBA Eastern Conference Surprise Teams

Indiana Pacers +15000

Per the current NBA Standings, the Pacers have locked up a playoff position. Indiana could end up anywhere from the fourth seed to the seventh seed. We wanted to start with the Pacers because they’re a historic team.

Indiana is one of the four original American Basketball Association (ABA) squads. The other three are the San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, and Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, Pacers, and Nets have yet to win an NBA Title.

The Pacers franchise is hungry. This season may be their best shot yet to take home rings. The reason? T.J. Warren has dominated.

Warren beat up the 76ers with 53 points in Indiana's 127-121 win. T.J. dropped 34 against the Wizards in a 111-100 Pacers victory. The forward blasted the Magic with 32 in Indiana's 120-109 win over Orlando.

Indiana plays well together. Warren can hang with any NBA star on the court. That means we must give the Pacers a shot to win it all.

Orlando Magic +50000

Orlando is the lone "home" team in the NBA Bubble. At 22 1/2 games behind the Bucks, the Magic are the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

There's a great chance they hold that position next week. If they do, they'll make the Round of 16. Once in the Round of 16, Orlando could be tough.

The Magic boast a solid inside-outside game with the former first pick in the NBA Draft Markelle Fultz at the point and high-flying dunk master Aaron Gordon at forward. Nikola Vucevic is an underrated center.

Orlando isn't taking opponents to school the way Indiana is. But the Magic are playing well enough for an upset run in the playoffs.

NBA Western Conference Surprise Teams

Oklahoma City Thunder +8000

It makes sense that the Oklahoma Thunder might play well in Orlando. Chris Paul, the Thunder's starting point guard, is also the National Basketball Player's Association President. Chris Paul worked with commissioner Adam Silver to get the NBA restart off the ground.

If any team understands the importance of following rules in the bubble, it's the Oklahoma City Thunder. Another reason OKC has played well? They're deep.

In the 107-85 win over the Lakers, 10-of-12 players stepped onto the court for at least 11 minutes or more. There are 42 minutes in an NBA game, and only top scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played over 32 minutes.

The Thunder can go at opponents in waves. That makes them tough to beat.

Portland Trail Blazers +10000

Portland is the only team that voted against the NBA's restart plan. After the league decided to go the Orlando bubble route, the Blazers said that they would work hard to win a championship even though they voted against the plan.

Portland didn't lie. The Blazers have won 2 of their first 3 games. One of the wins was a dynamite 110-102 victory against the Houston Rockets.

Portland remains a game behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth seed, which means Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Jusuf Nurkic must play lights out in the final regular-season week to stamp their ticket to the Round of 16.

If it happens, give the Trail Blazers a puncher's chance to win the NBA Title.
