First and foremost, congrats to the Boston Celtics for winning the chip. Now back to business and this weeks topic is Free Agency. I will first break down the East teams needs and who they should consider signing in the offseason.

Their FA's are the Joshs, Mario West and Salim Stoudamire. It's very important for them to re-sign one of if not both of the Joshs. If they both leave they are not totally in trouble, they could just slide Al Horford down to the four, move Zaza Pachulia back over to the starting five and look for a decent C and PF in free agency. Another option they do have but will very unlikely happen, is to bring over Dave Anderson from FC Barcelona. If Josh Smith leaves here are some potential FA's Atlanta could sign-(Kwame Brown, David Harrison, Andre Brown, Michael Doleac, Chris Andersen, Michael Ruffin, Alexander Johnson, Jake Voskuhl, Brian Skinner, Othella Harrington and Jelani McCoy from the D-League)

Their FA's are Okafor, Ryan Hollins, Earl Boykins and Derek Anderson. A must for them is to re-sign Okafor, unless they somehow sign Elton Brand. With Okafor back in the mix and if Morrison and May can stay healthy for a full season, all I can really see this team needing is a back-up C. That option can come from re-signing their own R FA Ryan Hollins or one of these guys-(David Harrison, Paul Davis, Michael Doleac, Chris Andersen, Kwame Brown, Earl Barron, Lorenzen Wright, Francisco Elson, Jamaal Magloire, Scot Polllard and Jelani McCoy, Courtney Sims and Rod Benson from the D-league)

Their FA's are Kasib Powell, Chris Quinn, Dorell Wright, Jason Williams, Blake Ahearn, Stephane Lasme, Earl Barron and Ricky Davis. Shawn Marion opting back in and drafting Michael Beasley were two big transactions and if the Alonzo Mourning coming back rumors are true, the Heat front line would be set. As far as their backcourt goes, they really need a PG. They could go alot of ways to fill this need, one being of course a trade and the second being staying home or of course free agency. They could re-sign J-Will one last time, but I feel since the Heat are in kind of a rebuilding stage they should look to stay young at PG or sign a veteran non injury prone PG-(Sebastian Telfair, Salim Stoudamire, Damon Jones, Delonte West, Damon Stoudamire, Dan Dickau, Royal Ivey, Jannero Pargo, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling, Earl Boykins, Will Bynum, Milt Palacio, Kirk Penney and Darius Washington from overseas or Eddie Gill and Andre Barrett from the D-league).

Their FA's are Adonal Foyle and Keith Bogans with player options, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling, Mo Evans, Pat Garrity and James Augustine. If they re-sign all of their FA's, they are in good shape and would only need another F. If Bogans opts out and leaves and if Arroyo and Dooling leave, they would need a SG, PG and another F. Some potential FA's for Orlando to consider might be-(Dorell Wright, Kirk Snyder, Von Wafer, Mikael Gelabale, Salim Stoudamire, Carlos Delfino, Yakouba Diawara, Tony Allen, Bonzi Wells, C.J. Miles, Ricky Davis, Damon Stoudamire, Derek Anderson, Michael Pietrus, Matt Barnes, Kareem Rush, Flip Murray, Quinton Ross, Bostjan Nachbar, Fred Jones, Jannero Pargo, James Jones, Jarvis Hayes, Eddie House, Juan Dixon, Ira Newble, Michale Finley or loook overseas at Alan Anderson, Will Bynum or Milt Palacio)

Their FA is Roger Mason Jr. The only thing Washington needed to do was re-sign Jamison and Arenas. Done!! You have to think that they will re-sign Mason Jr. The present moment Washington needs no help via free agency, all they need to do is stay healthy.

Their FA's are Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Demetris Nichols and Shannon Brown. Re-signing Deng should be priority number 1, but then. I know I'm doing team needs by addition, but Chicago's team has a huge problem since drafting Rose and if they re-sign Gordon, they have way too many guards! With Gordon back on board they would have Gordon, Hughes, Rose, Hinrich and Sefolosha, now I know that 5 guards is not alot but they would then have 4 expensive, all star caliber guards who are going to demand the ball. Here is what Chicago should do, at SG either re-sign Gordon and trade Hughes or keep Hughes and let Gordon walk and at PG, trade Hinrich (hello Miami) and obtain a PG via free agency or obtain one in a trade.

Their FA's are Delonte West, Damon Jones, Dan Gibson and Devin Brown. Cleveland must retain Delonte West, Dan Gibson, and Devin Brown. The trade they made last year getting Joe Smith, Ben Wallace, Szczerbiak and West will be huge down the road once they all settle in together, that is why they must retain their FA's. Damon Jones is also a FA of their's, but he's not that critical for returning. I think his constant "me" attitude is hurting this team.

Their FA's are Jarvis Hayes, Theo Ratliff, Lindsey Hunter, Walter Hermann and Juan Dixon. They showed their age in this years playoffs and must get younger, they have no critical FA's to re-sign of their's. They should look for a veteran back-up C/F, a SF and a young back-up PG. Here is who Detroit should look into signing-(David Harrison, Michael Doleac, Ryan Bowen, Chris Andersen, Kurt Thomas, Derek Anderson, Austin Croshere, Matt Barnes, Michael Ruffin, Lorenzen Wright, Francisco Elson, Jamaal Magloire, Malik Allen, James Jones, Ira Newble, look overseas at Darius Washington, Alan Anderson or Kirk Penney or in the D-league at Andre Barrett or Billy Thomas)

Their FA's are David Harrison, Andre Owens, Kareem Rush and Flip Murray. Must trade a PG and since they just aquired Jarrett Jack and T.J. Ford and can't trade them again, it looks like Tinsley is the odd man out. They also currently have 16 guys under contract being their 2 draft picks are guaranteed since being 1st rounders, they have no room to sign anybody.

Their FA's are Awvee Storey (team option), Jake Voskuhl, Michael Ruffin and Royal Ivey. The Bucks, like most teams could use another big body. They have two of their own in Ruffin and Voskuhl who they could re-sign or look elsewhere. Some other potential big bodies for the Bucks to consider are-(David Harrison, Andre Brown, Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Michael Doleac, Randolph Morris, James Augustine, Kwame Brown, Alexander Johnson, Earl Barron, Lorenzen Wright, Francisco Elson, Malik Allen, Juwon Howard, Eduardo Najera, Primoz Brezec, Theo Ratliff, D.J. Mbenga or Courtney Sims and Rod Benson from the D-league)

Their FA's are James Posey, Sam Cassell, P.J. Brown, Tony Allen, Eddie House and Scot Pollard. It's hard to say that the defending champs need something, but they do. First they re-sign Eddie House or at least a deadly 3-point shooter and second they must re-sign Posey or an alternative in Maggette or Pietrus and lastly they need a veteran back-up PG not named Sam Cassell. Being Boston only has enough money to offer one mid-level exception, their back-up PG or bench shooter has to come dirt cheap-(Mikael Gelabale, Salim Stoudamire, Casey Jacobson, Darrell Armstrong, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, Anthony Carter, Kevin Ollie, Eric Piatkowski and Quinton Ross. Signing any overseas talent might be difficult for them considering their cap restraints.

NJ Nets
Their FA's are Nenad Krstic, Bostjan Nachbar and Stromile Swift(player option). By trading Jefferson, they now lack another proven scorer to take double teams away from VC. I don't know if they can find a good one via free agency, but they can find a decent one for the time being. Also their front line is now very young and inexperienced, they should look to re-sign Krstic and Nachbar as veteran anchors(also if Stro opts back in that would help also). Some FA's the Nets should consider might be-(Kirk Snyder, Carlos Delfino, Bonzi Wells, Matt Barnes, Ricky Davis, James Jones, Michael Pietrus, Michael Finley or J.R. Pinnock from overseas)

NY Knicks
Their FA's are Randolph Morris, Fred Jones and Marbury with a player option. One thing the Knicks do not need are guards, especially now with the signing of Duhon, but after that, like most experts I am confused. I don''t know what the hell Isiah was doing or planning to do with this roster, but all I do know is that Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni are great basketball people with great basketball minds and believe it or not should turn the Knicks back into winners.

Their FA's are Iguodala, Kevin Ollie, Louis Williams, Shavlik Randolph, Louis Amundson and Herbert Hill. SF, SF, SF, they really need a SF. Signing one of the Joshs, Iguodala or Maggette would definetely fill that need. They need another big body to go along with Reggie Evans up front and also a cheaper version of what they had in Kyle Korver. The 76ers have alot of money under the cap, but knowing this team they will overpay somebody and he will be booed consistantly because of it. These fellow FA's should help the 76ers-(Ronny Turiaf, David Harrison, Andre Brown, Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Kurt Thomas, Kwame Brown, Alexander Johnson, Malik Allen, Mikael Gelabale, Salim Stoudamire, Brent Barry, Kareem Rush, Casey Jacobsen, look overseas at Pat Caroll, Keith Langford and Matt Freije or the D-league at Dermarr Johnson, Luke Jackson, Courtney Sims and Rod Benson)

Their FA's are Carlos Delfino and Primoz Brezec. They need a bench, their starters are very solid since re-signing calderon and trading for O'neal. If they re-sign their own FA's, then all they need is a back-up PG. Some PG's for Toronto to consider might be-(Damon Jones, Damon Stoudamire, Jannero Pargo, Anthony Joohnson, Tyronn Lue, Keyon Dooling, Carlos Arroyo, Earl Boykins, look in the D-league at Eddie Gill or Andre Barrett and look overseas at Will Bynum, Andre Emmett, Kirk Penney and Darius Washington). Toronto also has a luxury that few teams do and that's bring over their overseas draft pick since he is willing to come over (Roko-Leni Ukic) and breed him in with fellow foreign talent Calderon. The West needs come out next week
