86. Mitch Richmond

One of the most underrated players of the 1990s. Mitch Richmond has largely been forgotten and some could say he was never remembered as a player. He was a 20 points per night player through-out the 90s but on usually bad teams.

Richmond played two very solid years at Kansas Sate averaging 20 points and 6 rebounds in 64 career games before going pro.

He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the 5th pick in the 1988 NBA draft. His rookie year was a spectacular one which seen him average 22 points a game and win rookie of the year honors. With the Warriors he was paired with Chris Mullin and Tim Hardaway who made the trio known as Run DMC. The trio helped the Warriors make the playoffs twice.

After three solid seasons with the Warriors he was traded to the Sacramento Kings. While with the Kings Richmond would gain he widest notoriety. He would be a six time all-star with them, making his first appear in 92-93.

His first years with the Kings were still very good but the team was terrible. He made the all-star team for the first time in 92-93 but did not play due to injury, an injury which limited him to just 45 games. He bounced back the next year and in 78 games.

He finally lead the Kings to the playoffs in 95-96, their first in 10 years and only their second since moving to Sacramento. He remained the Kings only star caliber player through most of the decade until they traded him to Washington for Chris Webber in 1998.

The Wizards years mark the decline of Richmond’s career. He never averaged more than 19 points a game with the Wizards and his last year was marred by injuries. In 2001 he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers and became a solid role player for them as they went on to win the NBA championship.

He retired after the 2002 season having played in 976 career games and owning averages of 21 points and 4 rebounds as well as being a six time all-star.
