85. Chris Mullin
|
A four time all-star and the first member of the 1992 Dream Team to make the list. Chris Mullin has fallen into some obscurity because the latter part of his career he was either stuck in Golden State which was going no where or became a role player with the Pacers. But Mullin was one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA.
He had a stand out career at St Johns university in New York. He played 4 years there and set a freshman record for most points scored. He played 125 career games with averages 20 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists. He was also selected to be a member of the 1984 US Olympic team in Los Angeles.
The Golden State Warriors selected Mullin with the 7th pick in the 1985 NBA draft. His rookie year was far from spectacular. He served primarily as a role player but did eventually make the starting lineup part way through the season. He continued to serve as a role player his second year where he played and started in all 82 games. The Warriors made the Semi-finals that year but lost. Mullin cracked the 20 points per game average his third year which was cut short due to injury. | |
1988-89 was Mullin’s best year. He averaged a career high 27 points per game and made his first all-star team. The Warriors seen mild success in the late 80s as they added Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway with Mullin. Mullin averaged 25 or more points a game for five straight seasons and made the all-star team in each of them. Unfortunately for Mullin injuries began to take their toll on him. From 1992 until 1996 he did not play in more than 62 games in any of those seasons and played a career low 25 in 1995.
Mullin got healthy in 1997 and played in 79 of the Warriors 82 games. The following season he was traded to the Indiana Pacers where he played in all 82 games in 1998, and all 50 in 1999 before missing half of the 2000 season.
Mullin seen his greatest playoff success with the Pacers which included a seven game series with the Chicago Bulls in 1998. With the Pacers Mullin took a back seat to Reggie Miller and Mark Jackson put still put up respectable numbers.
Mullin returned to the Warriors in 2001 playing 20 games before retiring. He than went on to become the Warriors general manager a position he still holds today. In 986 career games Mullin has averages of 18 points and 4 rebounds.
