But how much do you really know about your favorite game?   • 1. Back in 2000, a young Canadian chap had only the grand total of $70,000 USD to his name. So, what did he decide to do? He put the whole lot on the Los Angeles Lakers in the hope of winning that seasonís NBA championships. Thankfully he won and went on to become one of the most successful NBA betters in history.   • 2. Did you know that there has only been two occasions in history where games have been played on Christmas Eve? These were in 1960 and 1967 and both were shown on television. The games were between the Celtics and Hawks, and then the Warriors and Sonics respectively.

  • 3. During the 1908ís the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics were consistently in the finals for each of the ten years. They faced off against each other on three occasions in 0984, 1985, and 1987 with the Lakers coming out on top in two out of three of the matches.

  • 4. Back in 1969, the New York Knicks were leading with an impressive 18 game winning streak when it looked like they were about to not make it to 19 whilst playing the Cincinnati Royals. 5 points behind with 27 seconds to go, they managed to pull it back and secure their 19th consecutive win.

  • 5. A coin flip took place on the 19th of March 1969 to determine which team would get to select its players first in the NBA draft. The coin showed tails, the opposite of The Phoenix Suns choice meaning that Abdul Jabbar (Lew Alcindor) started his lucrative career with the Milwaukee Bucks.
