NBA when he retired as a coach in 1959.
Cervi is one of the best back court players to have ever played in the era and his tenacity and ball handling skills would remind you more of a modern player than one from the 1940s. He was able to use those skills to great effect during his playing days.
Sadly, much of Cervi's prime was lost to the war effort as he joined the army in 1941. He returned in 1945 to join the Royals and than the Nationals as a player coach.
