2023 NBA Finals predictions: Which teams are in with a serious chance of winning?

There is no doubt that the 2022/23 NBA season has delivered all fans could want and more. From star names playing out of their skin to young talents breaking through, it really has given us everything. Although the regular season is still underway, many fans will already be looking ahead to not only the post-season but also to who could win the NBA Finals in June.

Although lots can change between now and the Finals, it does seem that some sides are being heavily favored as champions in 2022/23. But who might they be?

What do the bookmakers say?

Before we take a deeper look at the sides who are fancied to win the NBA Finals in 2023, it pays to pin down who they are first. A good way to do this is to look at which teams sit atop the NBA Championship betting odds.

This not only gives you an idea of which teams are in with a real chance of success but also the best odds to follow. If you also look out for the best NBA parlay bets today, you can keep an eye out for the top wagers to make involving these sides-even before the NBA Finals arrive.

By far the currently most favored franchise are the Boston Celtics, who have odds at around +300 to win the championship. Not too far behind are the Milwaukee Bucks, who have odds of around +400 at most sportsbooks. The last two sides who seem in with a real chance of winning are the Phoenix Suns (at around +500) and the Denver Nuggets (at around +700).

But why are these teams the ones to watch?

Boston Celtics

There is little doubt that losing last season's NBA Finals to the Warriors really hurt the Celtics. However, they have put this ire to good use in 2022/23 and have easily been one of the standout sides during the campaign.

Few teams have been as consistent, or so dominant, on home soil. Jayson Tatum has been on fire for them this season and has formed a very strong duo with Jaylen Brown. If these two are fit and firing in the post-season, you have to fancy the Celtics.

Milwaukee Bucks

The main threat to the Celtics are the Bucks. They have had a similarly impressive season in 2022/23 and have been riding high in the Eastern Conference as a result

Of course, the big thing with them is having iconic playmaker Giannis Antetokounmpo available. If he is fit and playing well through the post-season, the Bucks have a great chance of winning another Finals series. If other key men, like Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez, stay fit through the post-season too, they have a good chance of tasting success.

Phoenix Suns

In the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns have enjoyed a superb 2022/23 season to date. You can bet they will be a side no one wants to face in the playoffs and one who thinks an NBA Finals win is in their grasp.

Although key men like Chris Paul and Devin Booker explain why this is the case, it has been the arrival of elite-level talent Kevin Durant that has fanned the flames. Durant is a bonafide superstar who will not only be desperate for a championship ring this year himself but will also have that something special to make it happen. While he might be injured currently, once he is back and gelling with Booker, Paul, etc., they could be the strongest team in the NBA.

Denver Nuggets

The list of NBA champions does not yet include the Nuggets-but this may well be about to change. They have been immense in the regular season so far and will be a real handful in the post-season if they carry on.

If they are to take home the trophy, then two-time MVP Nikola Jokic will be key. He has been a real standout performer for them again this season and is many people's pick for 2022/23 MVP. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will also be one to watch if he carries on his excellent 3-point shooting efforts. Bruce Brown is also a versatile player who can help this team clinch a Finals win, plus the shooting prowess of Michael Porter Jr could also be crucial.

NBA Finals 2023: Who will win the championship?

With the regular season still ongoing and playoff games still to get through, it might seem a little early to be looking at who could emerge victorious from 2023's NBA Finals. However, June will soon be here and it pays to get a handle, in advance, on which teams could be in with a real shot.
