Three Bets Ahead of the New NBA Season

The 2019/20 NBA season begins later this month with the Toronto Raptors going into the new campaign as the defending champions after beating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals back in June. With a flurry of changes on the rosters of some of the leading teams from the 2018/19 season, some experts are claiming this will be the most open championship for many years.

Here are three bets you should look to place before the NBA season begins.

Los Angeles Clippers to Win the NBA Championship at +450

The Los Angeles Clippers have never won the NBA Championship, however, this season represents their best ever chance. The Clippers fought off a number of franchises to the signature of the 2019 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in the off-season, while they also traded for Paul George from Oklahoma City Thunder and that has immediately elevated them to the top of the outright market at +450 to win the NBA Championship. The biggest threat to the Clippers could come from their neighbors in LA, the Lakers. Leonard and George have both joined the Clippers to win the championship and that duo may just be able to lead them to success. Zion Williamson Is Rightfully Odds-On to Be Rookie of the Year

Zion Williamson was selected as the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. The 19-year-old won a number of awards last year while playing for Duke and he goes into his debut campaign in the NBA as one of the most exciting rookies in recent years. Williamson has already impressed in pre-season for the Pelicans. He finished with 26 points on his home debut for New Orleans against Utah Jazz, while the game before, he recorded 29 points in his side's victory on the road against the Chicago Bulls. Williamson is -170 to be the 2019/20 Rookie of the Year according to Sports Interaction who don't just cover the NBA, but also provide betting offers on the NFL and NHL. As long as Williamson stays fit in the campaign, his numbers are going to be impressive which just ensure he lands the award at the end of the season.

Stephen Curry Still the Best Bet to Be the MVP

For the first time in a number of years, the Golden State Warriors are no longer one of the frontrunners to win the NBA Championship and that is reflected in the betting as their odds of winning are +1200. Kevin Durrant left during the off-season to join the Brooklyn Nets, while Andre Igoudala has moved to the Memphis Grizzlies. Although losing those two players is obviously going to be a big blow for head coach Steve Kerr, he still has Stephen Curry on the roster and the two-time MVP may just raise his game now there is more emphasis on his shoulders. Curry has had a number of injuries over the last couple of years which has disrupted his season at various stages. He goes into the latest campaign fit and healthy and at +600 to become the MVP, he may be the player to side with as he remains the greatest shooter in the NBA.

The early stages of the season will tell us a lot about the chances of some of the leading teams in the NBA outright betting so keep an eye on the action and remember odds are offered throughout the regular season and playoffs on the NBA Championship.
