Raptors finally make the NBA finals!

The Toronto Raptors finally did it! After nearly a decade and a half of sorrow that has seen franchise star after franchise star leave for greener pastures, the Raptors have finally made the NBA finals.

The Raptors have been one of the better teams in the east for several years now, but it was never a foregone conclusion that they would ever make the NBA finals. No matter how hard they tried they always would come up short.

The biggest obstacle for the Raptors has been Lebron James. King James has tortured the souls of the Raptors and ended the Raptors season the last three seasons. But now James is gone, having switched to the western conference and with that the Raptors became the new kings of the east.

Getting there was very hard for the Raptors and required sacrifices that even Thanos would be impressed by. The Raptors started off last season by firing longtime head coach and coach of the year award winner Dwane Casey. Casey had been the Raptors head coach for a franchise record 7 seasons and had by far seen the most success of any Raptors head coaches having made the eastern finals once and having the four highest season win totals, until this year, in team history.

But firing their longtime head coach was just the start for the Raptors as they built into a true title contender. They re-signed swing-man Fred Van Vleet, even over paying by some amount, on the first day of free agency. Van Vleet rewarded the Raptors by becoming one of the best sixth men in the NBA.

Then the Raptors pulled off their coups-DE-gras by trading beloved team star Demar DeRozan and former lottery pick Jacob Poeltl to the Spurs for disgruntled superstar Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. The move will go down as one of the greatest in franchise history and Leonard immediately made the Raptors a contender in the east.

At the trade deadline the Raptors made another shocking move by trading away fan favorite Jonas Valanciunas along with CJ Miles and Delon Wright for veteran star Marc Gasol. The move gave the team an experienced playoff veteran that paid off immediately.

These moves helped the Raptors stun the top seeded Milwaukee Bucks to reach their first NBA finals. Unfortunately for the Raptors, they are still underdogs. Most sports-books have the Warriors as heavy favorites, though some give codes that help fans with odds like SugarHouse Promo Code 2019, will help offset any advantages that the Warriors may have over the Raptors.

Still, you should not sleep on the Raptors. This is a team that has been made for exactly this occasion. They have the star power to match the Warriors and they have the veteran help. Anyone who thinks that the Warriors will run over the Raptors will be sorely mistaken. That is not to say that the Warriors wont win the series, the Warriors have won 3 of the last 4 NBA champions and have the two best players in the NBA in Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. The Raptors though do have a legit shot and the bold moves that they made this season could pay off for the franchise in ways they have never seen – their first NBA championship.
