The History of the NBA Cancelling, Suspending, and Postponing Games

On March 11, 2020, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the Coronavirus, or COVID-19. Gobert's test results came in seconds before the Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder were set to tip-off their game. The positive results for Gobert resulted in the game in Oklahoma City being postponed.

As news broke of Gobert's virus it became clear that this was the first domino that needed to fall. For a few days the league had talked about playing games without fans. But as the first case of an athlete testing positive for the virus came to light the NBA took the extortionary measure to completely suspended the 2019-20 season.

There were several games that had already been played on that Wednesday night, with one game airing nationally on ESPN, and one that was waiting to be played.

How Cocaine caused the New York Knicks to throw games

Cocaine was the scourge of the NBA in 1970s and 80s, the drug lead to 8 players being banned from the NBA and 3 of them permanently. But no case of drug use, or potential use, is as crazy as what is rumored to have been doing on with the 1980s Knicks.

The Knicks were the main attraction in New York City during the 1970s. The team won their only two NBA championships and made the eastern finals 5 times. But by the late 70s and early 80s the team had fallen on hard times. But things had started to look up, the Knicks had used the 4th pick in the 1978 NBA draft on Montana guard Michael Ray Richardson.

Richardson was going to change the franchise and bring back the glory days of the early 1970s, or so the Knicks thought.

Atlanta Hawks Continue Trading, Bringing in Dewayne Dedmon

The Atlanta Hawks seem to have been placing a lot of focus on trade deals recently, with the most recent one taking place on Wednesday morning. At that time, the biggest trade in a couple of decades went down, with four teams participating and 12 players being sent here, there and everywhere. In fact, not since 2000 has there been quite as big a deal taking place in the NBA, and back then, even New York traded Patrick Ewing to Seattle. Within that trade deal, the Atlanta Haws acquired two players from Houston in Clint Capela and Nene Hilario. The former is now under contract with the Hawks until the 2022-2023 season, with just over $50 million being owed over the course of that time period. Yet, it seems as though Atlanta wasn’t quite finished with trading by the end of that monumental deal.

Updated Roster for LA Clippers Following Trades

As is often the case with the NBA at the moment, teams have been making trades all over the place in bids to enhance their own rosters. That has been no different for the Los Angeles Clippers, who recently added their own potential difference maker in the form of Marcus Morris. At the same time, the Clippers have added Isaiah Thomas to their rankings, whilst forwarding on Maurice Harkless, Jerome Robinson and a first-round pick at the same time.

Yet, the big talk amongst Clippers fans is the signing of Morris. He's been quite the productive player this season, with an average of 19.6 points scored per game.

Denver Nuggets Make Two Trades Right Before Deadline

The Denver Nuggets weren’t messing about with things when they slipped two sly trades in right before the deadline. The team have been seeking out a wing defender that won't really shrink up on spacing when it comes to offense, whilst also looking for someone to provide extra shooting possibilities. Fortunately, it looks like they managed to find both of those things in two players, pretty much bolstering their ranks in the process.

The deal saw the team exchange Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez and Jarred Vanderbilt, who were all sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Raptors opt to Not Make Any Trades at Deadline

The deadline for NBA trades came around on Thursday, and while several teams initiated trades at the very last moment, there was one team that stood out for not making any at all. The Toronto Raptors instead chose to keep its roster in exactly the same way. Yet, there's little surprise behind this move, considering the team has been at quite the peak for some time now.

General Manager of the Raptors, Bobby Webster did mention that once the trade deadline had passed by, that the Toronto team had talks. While certain options were discussed within, he is happy with where his team is at current, and he believes that they have the potential to grow even more once all players are back to 100% health.

Three NBA Teams Who Need To Rip It Up And Start Again

As we write this article, there are still a few hours left before the NBA deadline. The final few days before the window closes are among our favorite times of the season, and we know it's the same for many of you, too. Until the final second arrives and the door slams shut, almost anything can happen. Trades that looked impossible at the start of the day suddenly arrive out of nowhere. Players swore they were staying put find themselves packing their bags. Teams and coaches panic, and bad moves happen just as often as good ones.

It's easy to see why a team might get tempted to roll the dice at this stage of the season. Enough games have been played to work out what's working and what isn't, and where improvements have to be made. Some teams, however, get tempted into playing something more akin to online slots than rolling a dice. When the reels of an online slots game start spinning, nobody knows what they'll look like when they stop, or whether the person playing with them is a winner or a loser.

Who is the worst franchise in NBA history?

Losing is as much a part of basketball as winning, but some teams do the former a lot more often than the latter. They lose so much that they become synonymous with losing. The Clippers have been the butt of many jokes, especially during the 1990s, about their winning futility, but they seem to have turned it around once being sold off.

So who is the worst team in NBA history? Obviously, the Los Angeles Clippers come to mind first and foremost. This is a franchise that all but embraced losing and made it part of their identity. But a forced ownership change has seemingly given the Clippers a new identity that has taken them away from the trash heap of the NBA. The glitz and the glam of LA also added to the Clippers mystic as the unlovable losers, and the franchise did deserve a lot of the bashing it got for sucking.

The Clippers were run by a terrible owner in Donald Sterling and had a terrible general manager in Elgin Baylor, that Sterling insisted on keep even though the team was always terrible

Who got the first triple-double in NBA history?

One of the most impressive stats a player can get in the modern NBA is the triple-double. A triple-double is defined as a player getting ten or more of any of the five statistical categories of points, rebounds, assists, steals or blocks.

But who got the first triple-double and when was it? That question is hard to answer as in the early days of the NBA and BAA stat keeping was not well kept. Many of the early box scores have gone missing or are incomplete. Add to that the NBA did not keep track of blocks and steals until 1973. The NBA also did not accurately record rebounds until after the 1950 season.

Triple-Doubles were not even well tracked or a thing until the 1980s,

John Barber the man who scored 188 points in a basketball game

Basketball fans are well versed in two of the most legendary games in NBA history: Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game vs the Knicks and Kobe Bryant's 81 point game vs the Raptors. Both games are legendary, but in the grand spectrum of high scoring games both come up short. in fact, Bryant's 81 point game does not even crack the top 25 of highest scoring games, all 25 games are games where a player scored over 100 points, and Chamberlain's game comes in near the bottom.

On February 16, 1953 the granddaddy of all super scoring games occurred when Los Angeles State took on Chapman Community College. Barber scored an astronomical 188 points, as the result of an "experiment" concocted by his coach, Sax Elliot, to debunk the notion of "Bevo" Francis as a "Superman" of the courts. Rio Grande's Clearence "Bevo" Francis was a scoring machine and was attracting a lot of national attention. He scored 116 points earlier in the season against Ashland Junior College and was averaging over 50 points a game. Lakers Turn Up the Defense for 2019 - 2020

After a rollercoaster ride of a season in 2018-2019, the Los Angeles Lakers are making a comeback with a completely retooled super team of young, energetic and talented players. Believe it or not, the Lakers are back among the NBA favorites in the upcoming season of 2019-2020, after nearly a decade of going without a title.

Granted that the Lakers may not bag the prize in 2019, mostly due to their allegedly weak defense, they still have as good a chance as any other team to pull a spectacular game throughout the next season. Remember, this is a team that experienced a series of setbacks and player injuries last year, and right now they have only but a bare-bones roster to begin the approaching NBA season with. But to be fair, the Lakers have got a fighting chance, and they will almost certainly be better at defense than most people would think.

For starters, the Lakers have a stifling defense and they are upping their game. In fact, their defensive strategies might even be the reason they end up winning the NBA Championship. The Lakers have strong defenders like Rajon Rondo, Danny Green and Avery Bradley, who are all known to have made their mark at the perimeter in various NBA All-Defensive Teams in the past.

FIBA World Cup Proving to be a Positive and Negative for Celtics

The Boston Celtics found themselves in a unique position heading into this year's FIBA World Cup, given that they had a number of key players on the national team roster. This experience has led to some interesting positives and negatives for the Celtics, as they look to get back near the top of the Eastern Conference after last year's disappointing showing.

On the positive side, the emergence of Kemba Walker as one of the top players on the Team USA roster will only continue his development as a star in the NBA going forward. Known more for his collegiate heroics than his professional accolades, Walker has been cherishing his role within the national team, with the 29-year-old receiving a large role due to so many star players dropping out of this year's World Cup roster.
